sustainability at tpn

We incorporate sustainability into our events by strategizing ways for companies to offset their carbon footprint while utilizing tools that can establish a baseline they can improve upon. In addition, we offer digital services that allow event content a greater reach and limit the amount of travel needed.

In designing events, TPN takes a holistic approach to program management at every point.

When Microsoft wanted to redesign and build new expo properties for their flagship series, TPN was at the planning table from the very beginning, asking, "How do our design decisions impact the sustainability of this program?" We continue to design modular components with thoughtful materials that can be used in various configurations that can be easily rebranded. This makes for the most cost effective, efficient, and sustainable design practice.

When managing fabrication, we make sure to select suppliers and partners committed to sustainable practices, policies, and infrastructure. We consider their location in relation to the destination. We eliminate paper waste with electronic distribution, use reusable fabric graphics, and have adopted a robust recycling program.

One of the most impactful ways a business can minimize carbon emissions is to implement a sustainable freight, shipping and transportation strategy. TPN has adopted best practices such as shipping from show-to-show; storing near event destinations; minimizing empty space in trucks and opting for vehicles that use renewable energy.

As a company, our sustainability programs and environmental certifications are as follows:

1. Our corporate offices won the Green Washington Award in 2013. Our building and office space is in one of the most sustainably innovative urban environments available in the Seattle area. The building uses bioclimatic design, water and energy efficiencies, and a native ecosystem to support a sustainable business future.

2. We predominantly book travel with Alaska Airlines which has been ranked by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) as the most fuel-efficient carrier in the United States for seven years in a row. Alaska burns 12-13% less fuel – and emits 12-13% less CO2 -- than the average US carrier. *

*Additionally, Alaska Airlines, and sister carrier Horizon Air, have the most comprehensive inflight recycling programs of any U.S. airline. Alaska recycles cups, bottles, paper, cans, and plastic on every single domestic flight. Even the coffee grounds are composted.
